Wordless Wednesday: Laura Plantation, Vacherie, LA
Oaks with Spanish moss, Oct. 2009, Laura Plantation, Vacherie, Louisiana. Digital photo by Liz Hall Morgan, copyright 2010. [Note: I have no affiliation with the plantation; I simply visited on my honeymoon and enjoyed the tour and the scenery.]
I'd like to tour Oak Alley sometime. I was particularly interested in Laura b/c of its French & German Creole history & the tour is known for being very history-based. I think we made a good choice--will have to post more on it sometime.
I'm a Southwest Louisiana native and Cajun "expatriate" exploring a multiplicity of heritages, all of which improbably converged in Louisiana. I enjoy sharing genealogy tips, finds and family stories. Questions, corrections or additions welcome: hallroots (at) sbcglobal (dot) net.
My heritage includes British Isles ancestry through my N. La. ancestors; Cajun, French-Canadian, & Irish ancestry through my S. La. ancestors; and French, French-Canadian & a bit of German ancestry through my Colonial New Orleans, Mobile, & French Illinois ancestors.

Click for larger view, BTW. This scene is so peaceful to me I think I might have to make it my new computer wallpaper...
ReplyDeleteThat is a great photo. Nicely chosen. It would make a great wallpaper...
ReplyDeleteLovely! We went to Oak Alley in that area. It's so pretty there, and the oaks are amazing.
